About VCU

Located on Virginia Commonwealth University’s MCV Campus in Richmond, and in partnership with the VCU Health System, VCU Health Sciences is comprised of five professional schools (Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy), the Massey Cancer Center, and numerous centers and institutes.

  • VCU became part of a nationwide consortium of research institutions working to turn laboratory discoveries into treatments for patient through its Center for Clinical and Translational Research in July, 2010.
  • As a growing academic health sciences center, VCU Health Sciences maintains an aggressive research portfolio. Total research awards amounted to approximately $152.6 million in fiscal year 2010, which represented more than 59 percent of the university’s total research awards.
  • VCU uses WIRB as the local IRB for quick approvals and start up timelines. WIRB will direct invoice the sponsors.
